Biopuncture is a type of therapy where biological products are injected into specific sites on the body. Products are injected into muscle or subcutaneous tissues. Generally, products injected are derived from plants. Upon injection, they are intended to stimulate the immune system.
Acupuncture points are common spots for these injections. In theory, these products will have greater stimulation at these points.
What Kinds of Products Are Injected for Biopuncture?
Vitamin B12, Traumeel, Zeel, and Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) are a few products used for injection. Usually, the PRP is injected into damaged muscle, ligaments, or joints.
Are these products safe for my pet?
Yes. These products are held to the same standards as all injectable medications. Furthermore, many medications used are human safe.
How Do These Products Work?
The medications given are usually in very small doses. The low dose “wakes up” the immune system. In turn, the body heals itself instead of the medication doing the work. The reaction by the body may include such things as increased blood flow, relaxation of muscles, or tissue repair.
Treatments such as these can take longer than conventional medicine to heal the body. On the other hand, there are often fewer side effects.
