What is Tui-Na?
The word “Tui-na” (pronounced “twee naw”), translated means “pinch and pull”.
It is a form of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) therapeutic massage.
Tui-na is not generally used for pleasure and relaxation as in Western massage and bodywork.
Instead, practitioners use it as a treatment addressing specific patterns of disharmony.
Accordingly, practitioners often use it in addition to or instead of acupuncture.
Tui-na harmonizes Yin and Yang in the body by manipulating Qi in acupuncture channels.
The manipulations include what Westerners consider “acupressure.”
For example, practitioners use finger pressure instead of needles to stimulate acupuncture points.
Like chiropractic and massage therapy in Western Medicine, different amounts of force are applied in different manners in order to move Qi and balance the body.
What Are the Benefits?
The main benefit of Tui-na is a focus on a specific problem.
Good examples are acute or chronic pain associated with:
- Joints
- Muscles
- Skeletal system
Tui-na is very beneficial in reducing the pain disorders of the:
- Neck
- Shoulders
- Hips
- Back
- Legs
It is excellent therapy for:
- Arthritis
- Pain
- Sciatica
- Muscle spasms
Other benefits include alleviation of stress-related disorders like:
- Insomnia
- Constipation
- Digestive upset
- Respiratory challenges
- Reproductive issues
However, the greatest advantage of Tui-na is its focus on maintaining the overall balance of both mental and physical health.
Tui-na is safe and effective. In fact, it is so safe pet parents can learn to perform the procedure at home to help their pet’s healing process.
In your daily life, have you ever wished you could find something natural “just to take the edge off”?
Maybe something to ease your stress or make you not quite so anxious.
Perhaps you have chronic pain somewhere you’d like to numb a little.
Or, maybe it’s an upset stomach or trouble relaxing.
Dogs experience the same things, and Tui-na is an amazing tool for “taking the edge off”!
And, it brings your pet’s mental, physical, and emotional health back into balance at the same time.
